Privacy Policy

Effective Date: 2026-05-21

BetterFasting ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains what data BetterFasting collects, how it is used, and what choices you have when using the app.

0. Advertising and User Consent (v12.4+)

BetterFasting is provided free of charge and is supported entirely by advertising. We do not offer a paid subscription or ad-free version. The app displays banner, interstitial, app open, and native ads via Google AdMob. Every ad carries a visible "Ad" label.

EU/UK/Switzerland — User Messaging Platform (UMP)

For users in the European Economic Area (EEA), United Kingdom, and Switzerland, we use Google's User Messaging Platform (UMP) to obtain your consent before delivering personalized advertisements. You may:

You can change your consent preference at any time via Profile → Manage Ad Privacy inside the app.

iOS — App Tracking Transparency (ATT)

On iOS 14.5 and later, you will be asked for permission to use your device identifier (IDFA) for tracking across apps. If you decline:

Advertising Tracking Domains

The following domains may be contacted for ad serving and measurement: googleadservices.com, googlesyndication.com, doubleclick.net, app-measurement.com, google-analytics.com.

0.5. Service Changes — Removal of Premium Subscription

As of May 2026 (version 12.4), BetterFasting is offered entirely free with advertising support. Previous Premium subscription plans are no longer available. Existing subscribers retain access to all features (which are now free for everyone). No new in-app purchases are offered.

1. Information We Collect

A. Health and Fitness Data (Apple HealthKit)

With your permission, BetterFasting can read health and fitness data from Apple Health to show fasting context and insights. This may include:

Read Access

Write Access

Health data is used only for app functionality, insights, and syncing across your devices. We do not use HealthKit data for advertising or tracking.

B. Account and Profile Data

If you sign in with Apple or create a profile, BetterFasting may receive or store:

C. Fasting, Meal, and Social Data

When you use BetterFasting, the app may store:

D. Advertising Data

BetterFasting is supported by ads and uses the Google Mobile Ads SDK (AdMob).

AdMob may collect device identifiers, coarse location inferred from IP address, app and ad interaction data, advertising data, performance data, and diagnostic data.

If you allow App Tracking Transparency (ATT), ads may be more personalized and ad measurement may use Apple's advertising identifier (IDFA). If you deny ATT, the app still works and ads may be contextual or less personalized.

E. Analytics and Crash Reporting

BetterFasting uses Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics.

These services may collect app usage events, feature interactions, device model, OS version, locale, app version, build number, crash logs, handled error reports, performance diagnostics, and a user identifier when available.

F. Contacts and SMS Invites

If you use the invite flow, BetterFasting may present Apple's contact picker so you can choose recipients for an SMS invite. Selected phone numbers are passed to Apple's Messages composer to send the invite. BetterFasting does not store or upload your contact list.

2. How We Use Your Information

3. Data Storage

Your data may be stored in:

4. Third-Party Services

5. Your Choices and Rights

Analytics

You can turn analytics on or off in BetterFasting under Settings > Usage Analytics.

Tracking Permission

You can allow or deny ad tracking through Apple's App Tracking Transparency prompt, and you can later change that choice in iOS Settings.

Health Permissions

You can manage HealthKit access at any time in the Health app or iOS Settings.

Notifications

You can manage notification permissions in iOS Settings.

Export and Deletion

You can export your data from the app. You can also delete your account and associated data from the app's settings. Account deletion is intended to remove local data and CloudKit records associated with your BetterFasting account.

6. Children's Privacy

BetterFasting is not intended for children under 18. If a user under 18 enters a date of birth during onboarding, the app may show a warning recommending parental guidance and consultation with a healthcare professional.

6.5. User-Generated Content (v12.8+)

Starting in version 12.8 BetterFasting includes a community feed where you can publish text posts, attach photos, and target your post to the public feed and/or the fasting groups you have joined ("cross-posting"). This section describes how that content is handled, who can see it, and how we keep the community safe.

6.5.1 What we collect when you post

6.5.2 Where your content lives

UGC posts live in your Apple iCloud account's public CloudKit database. Users you have not blocked, and whose audience scope intersects with yours, can fetch and view them. We do not run an independent BetterFasting backend that stores or retains the content; everything is in iCloud.

An exception is content moderation (described below): when a post is reported by another user, a small record of the report (the reporter's anonymous user ID, the report category, and the post id) is stored in a Cloudflare D1 database hosted by us, used only to surface the report to the human moderator and to track aggregate report counts.

6.5.3 Audience controls (cross-posting)

When you publish a post you choose one or more destinations:

An asymmetric rule applies: content created from inside a private group stays in that group only. It cannot be cross-posted to the public feed or to other groups. This is enforced both in the compose UI and on our Cloudflare server before the post is written to CloudKit, so a modified or jailbroken client cannot bypass it.

6.5.4 Community Guidelines and acceptance

Before your first post you are shown a Community Guidelines acceptance sheet. By accepting, you agree to keep the community kind, refrain from harassment / hate speech / sexual content / spam / self-harm content, and report content that violates these rules. Violations may result in the post being removed, your account being suspended from posting, or both. The acceptance is recorded locally on your device with a timestamp and the guidelines version you accepted.

6.5.5 Content moderation pipeline (Apple App Review Guideline 1.2)

6.5.6 GDPR Right to be Forgotten for UGC

You can request deletion of all your posts, comments, reactions, and block records by emailing bselimbuyukelci@gmail.com from the Apple ID associated with your account, or by tapping "Delete Account" inside the app. The deletion request is recorded with a hashed user ID in our Cloudflare D1 database for audit purposes (the hash, not your raw ID), and your content is removed from CloudKit. Some third-party diagnostic records may remain subject to those providers' retention practices.

7. Data Retention

We retain data for as long as it is needed to operate the app and your account. If you delete your account, BetterFasting attempts to remove associated local data and CloudKit content tied to that account. Some third-party diagnostic or advertising records may remain subject to those providers' retention practices.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The latest version will be made available through the app and our public policy URL.
