BetterFasting ("we", "our", or "us") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how your personal information is collected, used, and disclosed by BetterFasting.

1. Information We Collect

A. Health Data (Apple HealthKit)

To provide core fasting tracking and health insights, BetterFasting requests access to read and write data from Apple Health (HealthKit), including:

Read Access:

• Steps and Walking Distance
• Active Energy Burned
• Heart Rate, Resting Heart Rate, and Heart Rate Variability (HRV)
• Blood Oxygen Saturation
• Respiratory Rate
• Body Temperature
• Sleep Analysis
• Workouts and Mindfulness Sessions
• Weight

Write Access:

• Dietary data: Calories, Protein, Carbohydrates, Fat, Sugar, Fiber

We do not sell, share, or transmit health data to any third party. Health data is processed locally on your device and synced via your personal iCloud (CloudKit) account. We do not store health data on our own external servers. Health data is never used for advertising, marketing, or data mining purposes.

B. Account Information

When you sign in with Apple, we may receive:

• Your name (optional, you may choose to hide it)
• Your email address (optional, you may use Apple's private relay email)
• A unique user identifier

C. Profile Data

You may optionally provide:

• Display name, gender, date of birth
• Height, weight, activity level
• Fasting goals and preferences

This data is stored in your personal iCloud (CloudKit) account.

D. Analytics & Crash Reporting

With your explicit consent, we use Firebase Analytics and Firebase Crashlytics (by Google) to understand app usage and improve stability. Data collected may include:

• App usage events (e.g., features used, screens visited)
• Device type, model, and OS version
• App version and build number
• Crash logs and error reports
• Your user identifier (when signed in) to associate crash reports

You can opt out of analytics at any time via Settings > Usage Analytics in the app. Crashlytics (crash reporting) remains enabled for app stability.

Analytics data is not used for advertising and is processed in accordance with Google's Privacy Policy.

E. User-Generated Content

If you use social features (discussions, activity posts, groups), your posts, comments, and reactions are stored in CloudKit and visible to other users. You can delete your content and account at any time.

2. How We Use Your Information

• To calculate fasting progress, health insights, and personalized recommendations.
• To sync your data across your Apple devices using iCloud.
• To improve app performance, stability, and user experience (with your consent).
• To provide social features (community, groups, friend activity).

3. Data Storage

Your data is stored in:

• Local Device Storage (SwiftData): For offline access and app functionality.
• Apple Keychain: For sensitive data like authentication tokens (encrypted).
• iCloud (CloudKit): Owned and managed by Apple, linked to your Apple ID.
• Firebase (with consent): Aggregated analytics and crash data only.

4. Third-Party Services

No other third-party services receive your personal data.

5. Your Rights (GDPR & Global Privacy)

Right to Access

You can export all your data via Settings > Export Data in the app.

Right to Deletion

You can delete your account and all associated data via Settings > Delete Account. This removes:

• All CloudKit records (profile, fasting sessions, meals, social data)
• All local data (SwiftData, UserDefaults, Keychain)
• All analytics associations

Right to Withdraw Consent

• HealthKit: Revoke permissions via the Health app on your iPhone.
• Analytics: Disable via Settings > Usage Analytics in the app.
• Notifications: Disable via iOS Settings > BetterFasting > Notifications.

Data Portability

Export your data in JSON or CSV format via Settings > Export Data.

6. Children's Privacy

BetterFasting is not intended for children under 18. If a user under 18 provides their date of birth during onboarding, they will be shown a warning recommending parental guidance and consultation with a healthcare professional.

7. Data Retention

Your data is retained as long as your account is active. Upon account deletion, all data is permanently removed from our systems and your iCloud account.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy in the app.
